It is an art that boasts a long history in Molise, dating back to the Middle Ages, which since the mid-eighteenth century is linked in a particular way to the factory of the Dukes of Alessandro di Pescolanciano and which has found its possibility to perpetrate and be valued also thanks to the activity of the Art Institute of Isernia. Currently the centers in which ceramists work, including young ones, are in particular the municipalities of Montaquila, Pescopennataro, Capracotta, Macchia Valfortore, and Campobasso.
